Okay, so I got a warning that they are going to mess with the site on August 7th and may lose all data.  Anyone have an easy way to backup all these turns?

I'm going to archive the threads before August 7th using this method.

How far did we get to with the previous backup? What Chapter did you get to?

I'm not sure.  I'll have to really look at it next week.  I've got a big game I'm running on Saturday here in town and a ton of house projects on Sunday.  I may go through and get all the pbphouse threads back to episode 2 using this method so I have it all in the same format.

I keep wanting to have a short (1-page) summary of each episode with the highlights of the action, but just haven't had time to write them up.

I had a flash drive that had software on it that did a good job of grabbing the site.
I will try and dig it up this weekend.

There is a faq that shows how to suck each thread into one long HTML page which can then be saved.  Not perfect but it wouldn't take forever to capture it all.  Without something miraculous from Tim, I'm going to keep chipping away at that.

Let me know if you want help.  Maybe we can divvy up the threads and make the work less of a burden on you.

Ditto. And I'm assuming all games are on hold until we're fully backed up?  Do folk realise that their private message folders are going to disappear as well?

RFTS isn't on hold, I just think there is a leeeetle leadership vacuum considering the confluence of various player semi-absences.  Go ahead and post. Smiley

I found a few on CNET...

This one has a 14 day trial and seems to be a full version:
http://www.mozenda.com/?gclid=CJSW79z-naMCFYxU2god80otrw

This is only $16.95:

This one is free and got good ratings:

I would prolly try the last one and see how it goes.

Thanks, Tim.  I'm letting the last one on your list work now and it seems to be grabbing the right stuff.  Might be grabbing more than necessary but I don't think I'm backing up all of pbphouse Cheesy

Cool...
I would do one now and one right before the reset. (redundancy never hurts)  Cheesy

Let me know how this one turns out... some of the comments mentioned files getting corrupted, but most were very positive.

It has saved 334MB saving 173 out of 2556 links so far.  This could get ugly if a bunch of those links aren't leaves of the tree.

It is thorough.  It went to Tina's site to capture Kalli's avatar graphic.  From what I've explored of what has been mirrored so far, it looks just like the main site.
